Cart.com, the first end-to-end ecommerce-as-a-service provider, today announced the acquisition of 180Commerce, a leading online sales partner with a track record of helping brands to achieve scalable success on Amazon, Walmart, and other top marketplaces.

180Commerce was founded in 2016 following DSW’s acquisition of Shoe Metro, the largest Amazon footwear reseller. Key leaders from Shoe Metro formed 180Commerce to bring their expertise directly to brands through a tech-enabled agency service model. Headquartered in Carlsbad, CA, 180Commerce now provides dozens of top consumer brands with the retail strategies, tools, and resources they need to succeed on major marketplaces, with a focus on using data, advanced strategies, and best-in-class technologies to drive value for brands.

Following the acquisition, the company’s clients will continue to benefit from expert guidance they’re used to in areas including advertising strategy, content creation and optimization, customer service and reviews management, analytics and inventory planning. 180Commerce clients will also gain access to the full range of integrated Cart.com ecommerce offerings, including performance marketing to accelerate direct-to-consumer (DTC) efforts, logistics and fulfillment, and powerful AI-driven insights and data science capabilities in a single view for users. 180Commerce’s full team — including experienced digital retail, brand, and ex-Amazon professionals — will join the Cart.com team under the continuing leadership of 180Commerce founder and former Shoe Metro COO Jason Stuempfig.

“The 180Commerce value proposition has always focused on helping consumer brands grow long-term revenue and profitability by optimizing and streamlining their marketplace strategies. By joining with Cart.com, we’re bringing that vision to a far wider audience while continuing to expand our offering to the brands we serve with the powerhouse of offerings Cart.com provides,” Stuempfig said. “We share Cart.com’s vision for a no-hassle, fully integrated ecommerce ecosystem, and I’m delighted to be starting this new chapter in the 180Commerce story.”

“Acquisitions are central to Cart.com’s growth strategy, and with the addition of 180Commerce we’re underscoring our commitment to expanding into new areas and building out best-in-class capabilities across the full spectrum of ecommerce sales channels such as marketplaces,” said Saheb Sabharwal, Chief Strategy Officer at Cart.com, who leads all M&A activity. “We’re looking forward to working with Jason and the 180Commerce team to drive new value for Cart.com’s thousands of loyal users. We have a great process in place to integrate new companies into the Cart.com ecosystem, and we’re actively seeking additional M&A opportunities as we augment our solutions for brands.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome the 180Commerce team into the Cart.com family as we continue to expand our offering of commerce everywhere,” said Cart.com Co-founder and CEO Omair Tariq. “Jason turned 180Commerce into a success story by being relentlessly focused on delivering results for brands, while creating a powerful company culture in which everyone is valued. That’s exactly the combination we look for at Cart.com — especially when it’s paired with a commitment to using data and technology to streamline and optimize ecommerce and marketplace functions for fast-growing brands in every corner of the world.”

Cart.com, the Ecommerce-as-a-Service (ECaaS) provider helping brands to thrive through and beyond the pandemic world of digital commerce, today announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to advance its mission and deliver robust, unified analytics for its 2,500+ brands.

As one of the first end-to-end ecommerce solutions providers equipping merchants with critical marketing, technology, and fulfillment capabilities, Cart.com helps brands harness the benefits of treating data as part of their core DNA. By fusing all commerce and marketing data into a single source of truth accessed via a simple interface, Cart.com empowers brands to drive better decisions and accelerate growth through data automation.

The partnership with Google Cloud enables Cart.com to seamlessly deliver its product suite while providing multiple pathways for offering expansion. Today, brands on Cart.com access a single platform of unified analytics across warehouse operations, storefront volume, and digital campaigns including Facebook, Google, and Amazon advertising. Because these cross-functional data assets are now one, brands can better identify root causes of trends and anomalies in campaigns, cart abandonment, sales, inventory, and returns on the Cart.com platform. The partnership accelerates the speed-to-value this data will provide across a brand's ecosystem, equipping them with actionable intelligence to adjust procurement spend, modify promotional campaigns, or optimize revenue opportunities.

Additionally, the partnership with Google Cloud will streamline the development and monitoring of Cart.com's machine learning and AI pipelines. This will generate richer experiences targeted to dynamic shopper needs, while brands will benefit from enhanced profit recommendations and Google Cloud's global scalability with near-zero downtime. The partnership will leverage each organization's core capabilities to strengthen existing relationships and open new customer opportunities.

The enablement of Cart.com's unified data platform, including additional data-driven innovations on the horizon, provides for a powerful partnership of two organizations aligned around the value of data and scalability. "Brands have a huge opportunity to provide personalized ecommerce experiences for their customers by better leveraging their data," said Jim Anderson, Managing Director at Google Cloud & Member Of The GTM Advisory Board at CapitalG. "Together, we're empowering brands with technologies and services that unlock growth."

"Cart.com is committed to democratizing access to world class ecommerce and data science for today's top brands. Google Cloud was an obvious choice for us due to their innovation in these spaces," said Chase Zieman, Chief Data Science Officer. "We're already building an ecommerce platform that starts and ends with Data as DNA, and by working with the best minds at Google we'll be able to bring innovative products to market even faster. Our commitment to the fluid integration and authentic harmonization of data is one of the most strategic and organic building blocks for a brand. This foundation will unlock unparalleled advancements in the prescriptive automation of commerce everywhere."

The deal amplifies Cart.com’s existing fulfillment services, which give online merchants the streamlined infrastructure needed to compete with the world’s largest retailers.

Sauceda was launched by TexasHumor.com founder Jay B. Sauceda in 2013 after he found that existing logistics companies were not nimble or adaptive enough to support his up-and-coming ecommerce brand. Over the past eight years, Sauceda’s nontraditional, hands-on approach and flexible support has powered the growth of brands such as Bill Murray’s William Murray Golf apparel brand, the Grocery Family program for Siete Foods, and TV show Austin City Limits.

Sauceda supports brands in need of full omnichannel support and has integrations with leading ecommerce platforms including Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, Amazon, Etsy, eBay, and Walmart. The Sauceda approach provides flexible and scalable services including D2C fulfillment, subscriptions fulfillment, B2B fulfillment, storage-as-a-service, and FBA prep, enabling merchants to focus on what they excel at and love doing: growing their brands. This makes Sauceda a great fit for Cart.com, which will benefit from Sauceda’s established network of partners, customers and processes, and people and rich culture, while providing the capital and resources to scale the Sauceda model for national brands across the Cart.com fulfillment footprint.

Cart.com is committed to delivering full-spectrum fulfillment services as part of its vision of bringing all ecommerce functions under a single unified umbrella. The company has grown its nationwide network at an impressive pace since the beginning of 2021, launching eight new fulfillment centers operated by Cart.com personnel, expanding its footprint 10X and adding the capacity to seamlessly handle up to 50,000 packages per day.

“Nobody starts an online store so they can get into the warehousing business. That’s why order fulfillment is the No. 1 pain point as ecommerce founders build their brands,” said Saheb Sabharwal, Chief Logistics Officer of Cart.com. “We’re excited to have Sauceda join Cart.com as we grow our end-to-end nationwide logistics network to provide 1-2 day shipping for our fast-growing partner-brands. Our brand-obsessed operations experts provide not only end-to-end logistics expertise but also strategic guidance and seamless integration across the entire Cart.com ecommerce ecosystem — from using customer data to optimize inventory storage locations, to ensuring that marketing campaigns are targeted at geographies where stock is available. Cart.com is built to enable brand-builders, and Sauceda shares that vision.”

“At Sauceda, we’ve always believed in treating people like people, at scale,” said Priscilla Sauceda, co-founder of Sauceda Industries. “From the earliest discussions it was apparent that Cart.com believed in the same approach to building their company culture. We couldn’t be more excited to do that at an even larger scale as part of their team.”

“In the past eight years the Sauceda Industries team has shown that people-focused brands are served best by a brand-focused 3PL,” said Jay B. Sauceda, co-founder and CEO of Sauceda Industries. “By joining the Cart.com family, we’ll be able to bring that vision to an even bigger audience, and give brands across North America the scalable, customer and people-centric logistical support they need to realize their full potential.”
