We highly recommend that you do not use .bmp images. They are not optimized for size, and browser support for them is very poor and some times non-existent. You can use a graphics package such as Photoshop or even the MS Paint which comes with Windows to convert them. Do a Save As under the file menu and save as JPG or GIF, these are both standard web formats.
