AmeriCommerce offers you many options and complete control over your on page SEO optimization. You can define custom URLs, page titles, add content, meta tags, meta descriptions to product, category, manufacturer and content pages.

Added to giving you complete control over these settings, default SEO settings are pre-populated with merge codes which are applied site wide across page types when you don't provide page level data. This allows you to do a quick setup by using global settings.

There are three levels at which you can define/customize SEO settings:

  1. Global Site-wide SEO settings - This setting is used if Page Type and Page Level settings are not defined
  2. Page Type (product, category, manufacturer, content, attribute) site-wide SEO settings - This setting overrides the Global site-wide setting and is used if Page level settings are not defined. You can use text, merge codes or a combination of text and merge codes.
  3. Page Level SEO settings - These settings override page type and global settings and give you complete control at the product and page level.

The first two global site-wide and page type site-wide settings are defined under Store Settings > SEO Settings

Browse to Stores > [Active Store] > Store Settings

Browse to Store Settings

Select SEO settings from the left hand navigation

Select SEO Settings

This page has the default SEO settings which can be changed as you choose. You can change any settings here or delete them to leave them blank.

These settings generate keywords and descriptions for the entire site if the settings are not defined at the product or page level. All of this information can be overriden at the product, category, manufacturer or content page level. This is used only as a default setting to fall back on, when the page or product level tags are not defined.

Default SEO Settings

Page Level settings: are defined on the page editors: product, manufacturer, category and content. Below are snapshots of all of these editors. When you populate these settings, they override global settings. If you need to populate these settings for a large number of products/pages you can use the import tools.

Page Level: Product SEO Settings

The product and page level gives you complete control over your on page optimization and override all global settings thus allowing you to have unique SEO tags and settings for each product and page, if you choose to optimize to that level.
