Here is a list of AmeriCommerce compatible Search Engine Optimization Tips, Tools and Techniques you can use to easily raise the traffic level to your AmeriCommerce storefront.

Overture Inventory

See what people are searching on and you can see if you are targeting the wrong keywords.  Use this to target the most popular, most searched words, dont waste valuable SEO space on very low searched word combos.

Use Custom Url Feature

There is a new feature you may play with “Custom URLS”  it really helps by allowing you to make the page appear off the root of the site, with no noise words, a highly targeted url that search engines love.  We already do a basic url rewrite like below:
http://www.yourstore.com/store/c/24-Changing-Pads-Mattress-Pads.htm
but with custom URLs it can be even simpler like:
http://www.yourstore.com/Mattress-Pads.htm

Create Search Engine Fodder

Notice the text at the very very bottom….that is very very good to have and it is a spot to put text that can be not attractive or fit as well with your theme but still provide great search engine fodder.  They also place text at the top to describe their manufacturers and categories which is invaluable search engine text.  Bottom line, its all about content…more content = better rankings.

Permanent 301 Redirect ALL Old Urls

If you have old urls or changed url's, always enter an entry in our Global Redirects module to redirect all the traffic to the new url, don't lose that old pages pagerank and traffic, no matter how small.

Poodle Page Reader

Use to view a site's textual content, see it in diagnostics view, view the page header areas and more.  This gives a great idea of what the search engine sees when it crawls the site.  Take note of any extra noise, or anything missing.
